Life Coaching towards Weight Loss

If you could...

  • Make life changes to move towards your ideal weight... Would you?
  • Love your body... Would you?
  • Understand why you eat when you are not hungry... Would you?
  • Reclaim your bodies natural well-being... Would you?

What kind of a person wouldn't?

Are you committed to being a little or excessively overweight? Committed to being a bit tubbier than you would like? Think about that.  Anything we do habitually has some underlying commitment to it, right?  Where does that commitment come from? Why not be committed to your well-being?

I often work with people who regard themselves as being "overweight"; sometimes it is several stone, but mostly just a few pounds. Clients often include weight loss as one of the goals that we can work on together as a part of a supported wellbeing program.

I am a tall skinny life coach who looks after his body!  What can a skinny coach tell anyone who is battling the pounds? Basically, it’s futile to explore any type of strategies for losing weight if you have mental and/or emotional reasons/commitments why you need to be fat. Our coaching work together seeks to unearth and address these issues. The perspective I share comes from helping you understand your power, what matters to you, that you always have a choice, and that wellbeing is your birthright. Choosing to make choices towards maintaining our optimum health is fundamental to living a great life. Adopting the behaviours of a healthy person is only a choice away; and yet we all have unconscious blocks holding us back, things we can't sense or feel that don't seem part of us but are there all the same.  Life coaching can support you to discern those blocks and right-actions, eliminate self-sabotage, and help you put good practice into effect. Frankly, even the simplest and most effortless approach to weight loss will fail if you have an emotional reason to eat and put on weight.

Over the past five years, when coaching hundreds of people it has become clear that lifestyle issues with being overweight are not only about food, there are a lot of social and emotional issues that contribute to weight gain or the inability to lose the weight. When we are unhappy we eat!  When working with a client I might say "Lets not talk about how many times you’ve tried to diet and failed or what you’re eating right now, or what you’re cravings are or what type of exercise you’re doing. Let's unearth your  emotional need to be fat.  Let's get you to see that as long as you have that need, no program is going to work for you. Let’s discover and understand why you have this need to be fat, and then see what you can do to eliminate that need."

Headlines that spout "Department of Health figures show that obesity already cost £4.2bn last year, and the cost is rising" are un-motivating hubris when you really get stuck into an honest dialogue with a client; really helping them understand their relationship to their world, and to themselves.  It does not take long to reveal the real reason why folks reach for one more choccy digestive, mucho-grande latte, or one more glass of vino.

In the early stages of developing a powerful relationship we ascertain what really matters to you. This understanding then serves as an honest backdrop which we then use to make your lifestyle-changes. In most cases small changes are all that are necessary; and for folks with larger amounts of weight to drop, we do the forensic work to understand why you are overweight and then set an intention, commit and follow-through with a comprehensive program of actions to achieve your weight loss and overall well-being. Frequently clients are aware that their waste line is changing and that they do not wish it to get out of control.  In other cases I have been a bedrock of support working alongside a quality weight loss regimen towards a major (several stone) reinvention. When clients have committed to a major weight loss effort, the results can only be described as revolutionary, in terms of how other people perceive them and most importantly how they see themselves.

As a Life Coach I help already successful people navigate the challenges, changes and dreams that arise through adult life.  I relish change as the most powerful tool we have to get what we want out of life.  I will support you through the changes you want to make to achieve the level of weight and wellbeing you desire.

Take up the challenge of designing a healthy future. Using a safe and supportive foundation of trust, freedom of expression and commitment, I always work to help you explore your inner being, to regain balance in your personal and working life and to align with your true values and fullest potential. Using a stimulating London-based face-to-face or telephone coaching program customised to fit your current personal development needs, my lifecoaching focuses on your inner guidance, purpose, skills, beliefs, techniques and processes necessary to take you into a great ideal-weight future.

Self Help...

Take a moment to review the key aspects of your life situation.  How would you rate your attitude and performance in these areas?  Are you FULL-ON or So-So?  Are there Bad Habits to change or Good Habits to adopt that would allow you to get more out of this aspect of your life?  What are they?  What difference would having a coach make to this habit change?
